Around 7:59 am, Sitaram Yechury announced the sad news of his son’s death on his Twitter account. He was his elder son which means Akhila also has one more younger brother whose name is not available on the internet.

I bid goodbye to my son, Ashish (Biku) at noon today. I thank all of you who have shared our sorrow. I thank everybody who gave us strength to be able to face this dark hour. I know that I am not alone in my grief, with this pandemic consuming countless lives.

Her brother just joined Newslaundry in Delhi back in January 2021 as an Assistant Editor and was working from home most of the time.Ashish whose nickname was Biku had to meet some of his colleagues for few times.The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the President of India Ram Nath Kovind also expressed their condolences after hearing the Ashish Yechury’s death news.
